The Questions We Hear Most

Straight Answers,
No Guesswork.

The questions below come up often enough in early conversations that answering them here saves everyone some time. Anything specific to your situation deserves a real conversation rather than a paragraph.

  • Plenty of firms answer the question a client brings them. We spend more of our time on the questions nobody thought to raise. Before a recommendation gets made, we work through what else the decision touches, what could go differently than expected, and what options were never mentioned. That takes longer upfront, and it tends to surface things worth knowing while there is still room to act on them.

  • Planning comes first. Investments are one of several tools we use to carry the plan forward. A portfolio can't be designed in isolation from when the money will be needed, how income will be generated, the client's tax situation, or the other financial decisions ahead. We start with what you're trying to accomplish, then build the investment strategy around the role those assets need to play within the broader plan.

  • Complexity matters more than a number. The people we serve well are generally facing decisions with real consequences attached, whether that involves a business, a retirement date, an inheritance, concentrated stock, or an estate plan that has not been reviewed in a decade. If your situation has more moving parts than it used to, the conversation is probably worth having.

  • Most people are capable of making good financial decisions when they understand the choices in front of them. The challenge is knowing which questions to ask, what alternatives exist, and how a decision in one area may affect another.

That's where we believe good planning creates value. Our job isn't simply to provide answers. It's to help uncover the questions, opportunities, risks, and tradeoffs you may not have known to consider—then give you the information and perspective you need to make an informed decision.

  • You should be able to explain the decision to your spouse in your own words. If a strategy cannot be described clearly, that is a problem with the explanation rather than with you. Complicated and sophisticated are not the same thing, and we hold ourselves to translating one into the other.

  • Some relationships start that way. Someone calls about a business offer or a retirement package, we work through it thoroughly, and that may be the extent of it. Others continue because circumstances keep changing, and having someone who already understands the full picture can be valuable when the next decision arrives. Both are fine.

  • Keystone may be a new firm, but the experience behind it isn't. After more than two decades helping individuals, families, and business owners navigate important financial decisions, we had the opportunity to build a firm intentionally around what we believe matters most to clients. Keystone brings together that experience with thoughtful planning, clear advice, personal relationships, and the broader resources and infrastructure available through our affiliations with JFC Advisor Network and LPL Financial. We're building Keystone for the long term—with a commitment to our clients, continued investment in our people and technology, and a vision to serve families across generations.
